After
coming to the US in 1998, he joined the Oromo congregation in Washington D.C.
Among other things, he has served as the chair of the councils of two Oromo
congregations in the Washington D.C. metro area. In 2005, he joined the
Lutheran Theological Seminary (LTSG) to serve as an ordained minister of the
church of Christ. In May 2009, he graduated from LTSG with Masters of
Divinity degree. In addition to his divinity degree, Hambisa holds Bachelor’s
degree in accounting and Master’s of science in information science. He has
over twenty five years of work experience both in Africa and the US. Hambisa was called
by the Delaware Maryland Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
to serve as pastor and mission developer at Oasis of Grace. He was ordained
by Bishop Theodore F. Schneider on April
10, 2010 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Washington DC. Hambisa
and Lemane, his wife of 22 years, live in Silver Spring, Maryland with their
college aged sons: Sollan (21) and Detti (17). |
